Back to The Art of Science of Drawing with Day 4 of Week 5, learning about triangulation.
Today class was about applying angle sighting to draw a complete object (more specifically, some boxes).
Triangulation steps
- place the front corner of the box leaving room above and bellow
- angle sight and draw the front vertical edge of the box
- place the bottom corner of the front edge
- triangulate the location of the top, left corner
- angle sight the orientation of the diagonal that connects the bottom corner with the top left corner
- find the intersection of diagonal with the top vertical front edge
- repeat the process of triangulation until you have located all visible corners of the box
- for verification or to find other corners, you can triangulate opposite corners of the box, not only those connected by edges of the box (for example the bottom left corner with the top right corner)
- try to use as much as possible the initial corner and edge as reference
Assignment
- find a box (not too small, not too big)
- using angle sighting and triangulation, draw 1 box 3 times
- extra challenge: draw 2 boxes stacked together
